The New Orleans Pelicans have become the 402nd MLB/NBA/NHL team to fall into a 3-games-nil deficit in a best-of-7 playoff series. They will strive to become the sixth team to rally for a 4-games-3 series victory.

Sweeps, Active and Thwarted:
The 2024 NBA/NHL playoff season has given rise to six 3-games-nil leads – the most since six in 2017. Since the NBA joined the NHL in a best-of-7 Preliminary round in 2003, the most NBA/NHL Preliminary-round series to begin 3-games-nil was eight, in 2015. Through Saturday, three of the six sweep attempts were thwarted in Game 4, for the most sweep-thwarts in the NBA/NHL Preliminary round since four in 2015. Since 2003, inclusive, the most sweep-thwarts in an NBA/NHL Preliminary round has been four, in both 2011 and the aforementioned 2015.

Grade-C Comeback:
The Orlando Magic trailed the visiting Cleveland Cavaliers by nine points as late as after two quarters of their Game 4, but prevailed. In the history of best-of-7 NBA playoff games from 1947, inclusive, home teams down nine points as late as after two quarters had a game record of only 18-47 (.277) - the Orlando Magic thus achieve a grade-C (.200 - .299) in-game comeback to knot their series 2-game-all vs Cleveland.

Saturday - Active Streaks:
In best-of-7 NBA/NHL playoff series: Trailing 2-games-1, the Miami Heat have an active five-series losing streak; leading 2-games-1, the Vegas Golden Knights have an active five-series winning streak. The Game 4 Orlando victory ends the Magic four-Game 4 losing streak upon trailing 2-games-1; tied 2-games-all, Orlando has a 4-0 series record. The Game 4 victory by the Los Angeles Lakers is their first when trailing 3-games-nil; the Lakers had had an inauspicious 0-8 Game 4 record when facing a sweep. Trailing 3-games-1, the Lakers have a 13-series losing streak, while the Toronto Maple Leafs have a 15-series losing streak; leading 3-games-1, the Denver Nuggets have a five-Game 5 winning streak. Irrespective of Games 1-4 outcomes, the Lakers have a four-Game 5 losing streak.

Friday - Active Streaks:
In best-of-7 NHL/NBA playoff series: Leading 2-games-1, the Colorado Avalanche have seen their Game 4 result presage their series result in their last nine such series (five wins, four losses). The Game 3 victory by the Vancouver Canucks over the Predators in Nashville snaps a seven-Game 3 losing streak (irrespective of Games 1-2 outcomes) by the Canucks. Trailing 2-games-1, the Nashville Predators have an active four-Game 4 winning streak, but a 0-11 series record.

In-Game Comeback of Spring 2024:
On Monday 22 April, the Denver Nuggets trailed the visiting Los Angeles Lakers by ten points as late as after three quarters but prevailed in their Game 2.
